How excited and honored am I? Extremely. Very. Jumping up and down with joy! When I saw Heather’s e-mail in my inbox with the title “TMC feature blog post”, I couldn’t open it fast enough. Of course I didn’t have to think twice about accepting this honor. Heather has created an amazing community over at Theta Mom. One that is open, honest, and “authentic”. Her message is loud and clear: we are in this journey of motherhood together and yet there is no one “right” way to do it. I could not agree more. She pretty much had me at “Life isn’t perfect and neither are our kids”.
So, thank you for visiting me and please read my post over at Theta Mom today. It explains how I got started on my blogging journey and why I will continue on in it.
Here are some of my favorite posts thus far, highlighting the fact that this journey through motherhood really does take us on some long and winding roads.
Dealing with Your Daily Dose of Mommy Guilt
Thank you Heather. I am so glad to have “met” you and I’m truly grateful for this honor.
Melissa,
Isn't it funny how you "meet" people and you feel as if you've known them for a long time but never really "met" in real life? Well, you are certainly one of those bloggers! I connected with you and your writing once I visited your blog. YOU are such a Theta Mom – one who accepts all moms for who they are because they are MOMS in the trenches of motherhood. You are authentic on your blog and always raise excellent points and perspectives on topics that impact all of us on this journey.
Keep writing mama! You are going to be in this bloggy world for a long time. I sure hope many peeps come to visit to see what an incredible blogger you are!!
Happy Friday!
xo
Happy feature day!!!
I just read your breastfeeding post. I was one of those mom's who just couldn't breastfeed. I reached out to the lactation consultants and nurses at the hospital who kept assuring me that my milk would come in but there was enough for my newborn. After a day or so, my daughter would just cry so I finally broke down and gave her formula. The lactation specialist was so irritated with me! I supplemented with formula and tried to keep nursing and pumping but, like you, the most I ever pumped was 1.5 oz. I felt so guilty and judged too but at the end of the day I know I am a good mom and this was just something I had no control over. My lactation consultation told me I didn't give it enough time and everyone is capable of breastfeeding. So, it's comforting to know that there may be a medical reason.
Sorry for such a long comment! It just hit close to home!
I'm so glad to see you as the featured blogger today!! YAY!! I hope this is a great day & lots of people get the chance to find you
Congrats on your Theta Mom day! I read your breastfeeding and soccer mom posts and I LOVE your blog! Following you now on Twitter and your blog.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! How super duper exciting! Wow!!! Of COURSE she thinks your fabulous … it's oh-so true!
Woo hoo! I LOVE when someone I know is chosen! Have a fun day!
Congratulations on being the featured blogger on TMC today!!!
My favorite thing about blogging and Twitter is "meeting" people and building friendships.
Since I started in May I've met a lot of great people and built friendships that I love!
Wonderful blog. I really related to your post about your heart breaking over not being able to breast feed like you had hoped. I went through the same thing and had the exact same problem. I had never even heard of this problem until I was told that I had Insufficient Tissue. It was quite a blow and something that like you, I have struggled to come to terms with. Thank you for writing so beautifully about this topic.
congrats and we should really meet in Real life. Just saying
Hi, visiting from TMC. I just read your breastfeeding post and cried (literally, my husband thinks I'm a little nuts)it amazes me how many women have a hard time with breastfeeding, for whatever reason. One of the first posts I wrote was about my experience (or inexperience!) because it's a subject that resonates with so many women. I'm off to check out the rest of your blog. So glad to have found you! Yara
congrats from a TMC member! Look forward to checking out some of your posts that you chose!
Sorry, me again, debated whether I could/should add a link to my post on breastfeeding and decided to: http://moomserbaby.blogspot.com/2010/10/breastfeeding-is-fing-hard.html
but if it bothers you, I totally understand if you remove this. Thanks!
I don't know which I love more: when one of my favorite people is featured by Theta Mom, or meeting all the great new ones through her. But today I am really excited to see you featured! Way to go!
I'm glad you included your breastfeeding post. I see several people have already commented how much it resonated with them. I did breastfeed successfully, but I have a lot of friends who struggled and simply could not and were heartbroken. I hated seeing them go through that. And I REALLY hate when other women attack those who do not breastfeed. It is NOT a given that a mom can do it. There are many, many reasons why it does not always work. Thank you for being brave enough to share your story.
Oh, and in case that didn't come through, I meant that YOU are one of my favorites! 😉
You are definitely an awesome featured blogger who I can really relate to. I'm a medical student myself (either wanting to be an OB/GYN or a Pediatrician) and I have a 6 year old & another baby on the way! Your blog looks very nice & it's just funny how both our blogs begin with "Confessions of a" =)
Following you now and can't wait to read your future posts! Please come visit me when you have the chance =)
