Sore throat. Cough. Aching body.
Tired.
I’m sick.
I don’t mean to complain but this mom is down for the count.
However, as you know, moms don’t get sick days.
Big Brother still has to get dressed and get to school on time.
Little Sister has gymnastics and a special coffee date with her best friend.
Well the coffee is for us moms. The girls get chocolate milk.
Oh, and yes, it’s Valentine’s Day and I was hoping to cook up some special treats for the family.
Did I mention, I’m sick?
I just want to stay huddled underneath the covers, close my eyes, and take a 24 hour nap.
I don’t think that would go over well.
But…I.am.sick.
How do you manage the daily routine when you’re sick?
There is nothing worse than being sick when you're a mom! I just keep plugging through and hope I find some sort of medicine that takes the edge off and try to rest during the in betweens. I hope you feel better soon!
There is really nothing to do, but work through it. I cut corners when I can. Leaving the laundry for a day, preparing simple meals with little prep, going to bed early, treating myself to snuggling in and watching a movie with the kids. Other than that you pretty much stuck being a sick mom.
I hope you feel better soon.
When I'm sick I do the bare minimum and turn the Wii or TV on. And I don't feel bad about it!
Hope you feel better soon!
We have no choice! We have to carry on. I remember when my daughter was in preschool, and it was the last day before winter break. They were having the big holiday party, and I was a room mom and was supposed to be there to set up. I had woken up with a 103 fever–I was really sick! But I popped Tylenol, made sure I washed my hands constantly and did what I was supposed to do. I didn't have a doctor's appointment until 4:00 anyway!
Oh no! Feel better!! Bummer that you feel so bad today. My husband has been sick and I just blogged about this very thing: Moms DO NOT get sick days! I hope you feel better so that you can make yummy treats today!
If I'm sick, I pray it passes quickly because my husband apparently forgets he's an adult and capable of solving a mom's problems.
Complain all you want, missy!! And then as soon as the clock hits 5 p.m., get yourself a nice hot toddy (hot water, lemon, honey, whiskey) and tell your family you are DONE!
Oh noooo I so hope you feel better soon. (And have a great Valentine's Day in spite).
I hope you feel better soon! Sending a big hug your way!
Well isn't that the suck?! Hope you feel better sooon!
Ahhh yes. I have had two "sick" days since I became a parent – once getting a single day "off" for the flu during my 6th week of pregnancy – and a 2 year old. I was so tired I couldn't even get out of bed…
If I'm near death's door, I request the hubby take a sick day to care for them – luckily his job has a plethora of them built in.
Otherwise, the TV gets a workout and I pull out ever bag of tricks possible to keep the kids happy – venturing outside where there are fewer battles.
there's alot of moaning. and crying. and complaining. and that's just my husband and the kids! unless there's shockingly high fevers involved, i usually just have to grin and bear it. of course, we have scarlet fever going around at the school i teach at and i'm just waiting for that to hit me. i'm pretty sure it'll happen right about the time we touch down in guatemala for our mission trip 😉
Oh, Melissa … I can so relate. In fact I almost wrote a post very similar to this last week, but I didn't feel well enough to blog!! We've been through two rounds of the flu at my house and then I just found out my teenage daughter has mono!
So, keeping up with routine? Well, I've done what HAS to be done, asked for help from the well members of the family and figured I'd catch up on the rest when we all get healed. Today everyone was back in school. Let the digging out begin!
Oh, I hope you feel better! I am sick too and am hiding in my office "pretending" to work, I should go lay down, but thought I'd read a quick post or two… I am sure I'll never sleep until my kids are asleep tonight. ugh!
Being sick as a mom is no fun at all. I generally do a crock pot meal, skip all housework except for absolutely necessary pick-ups, and use a little extra TV (I'm generally pretty stingy about it.)
I hope you feel better tomorrow!
I think we should make a special blog place online for moms to come get sick day sympathy. Because really…the world must go on and we make it go round, right? Hope you feel better soon!
Best,
Tina
Drugs…lots of drugs. It's horrible…hope you're feeling better soon!
It's so hard to be the mom when you're sick! I hope you feel better soon (and that no one else catches it)!
i really dont. i mean dont carry on with the daily routine. the bottom line is that it will probably take you longer to recover, and the "quality" of the everything you do will suffer. fortunately it doesnt happen too often, but when it does, i call in reinforcements. husband takes a day off, or i will find someone in the family to take care of my son for at least half the day… so i could nap and sleep my sickness off.
and if it falls on a holiday, there is nothing wrong with celebrating it a few days later. you could have a valentine's weekend instead of just one day
Hope you feel better! Happy valentine's day.
It's so, SO hard to be the mom when you're sick! And life just seems to go on in the background…people want to eat dinner, lunches need to be packed, playdates are scheduled.
Welcome to Motherhood, and Happy Valentine's Day! Hope you're better soon…
I am so sorry to hear you are sick.
I wrote a blog called "Inconvenient Sick" because that is the only sick mothers are allowe to get.
Otherwise who keeps the train running and holds the fort down all at once?!
Get well soon Dr.
I hope you feel better soon and that everyone else stays well. Beyond getting the kids dressed, fed, etc. I always forget the housework and everything else that isn't essential and pray my husband can pick up the slack.
I thought moms were immune from getting sick?
Next, you're going to try and tell me that Santa doesn't exist!
(feel better& drink tea with honey)
